If, in case
Conjugation
만약 = noun (beginning of sentence): in case, if
(으)면 = verb ending for
“if”
Conjugation:
I. Verb stems ending with a vowel + -면
Ex) 자다
자면 (ifyou sleep)
- Verb stems ending with = + -면
Ex) 길다
길면 (if it’s long) - Verb stems ending with consonants other than ㄹ+ 으면
Ex) 작다
작으면 (if it is small)
*Add the-았/었/였 Suffix before-으면 to make a past tense clause.
먹었어요 = I ate
먹+ 었 + 으면 = if you ate it; if l ate it
샀다. = I bought
샀으면 = if you bought it; if we bought it
- Create future tense sentences by using -(으)ㄹ 거면.
보다. = to watch
봐쓰면 = if I watched it; if they watched it
볼 거면 = if you are going to watch it

지금 자면
만약 지금 자면
If it rains tomorrow night , l’m going to be at home.
내일 밤에 비가 오면, 집에 있을 거예요.
