More…than….
-보다 더
How to say “more” in Korean
Ex)
빠르다= to be fast
더 빠르다 = to be faster
여뻐요 = It’s pretty. / You’re pretty. / She’s pretty.
더 여뻐요 = It’s prettier. / You’re prettier. / She’s prettier.
Conjugation:
than A = A보다
more (verb/adjective/adverb) than A = A보다 더 (verb/adjective/adverb)
When we have one verb in the sentence, we start with the first object of comparison (before more than).
But when we have two verb in the sentences, we start with the second object of comparison (after more than)
A watermelon
A watermelon is bigger than an apple
수박
수박은 사과보다 더 커요.
To be big
It’s bigger than this one
크다
이거보다 더 커요.
To be nice
It’s nicer than this one
좋다
이거보다 더 좋아요.
To be nice to people
Hyunwoo is nicer than Kyeong-eun.
착하다
현우 씨는 경은 씨보다 더 착해요
To be hot
Today is hotter than yesterday.
덥다
오늘은 어제보다 더워요.
To be difficult
English is more difficult than Korean.
어렵다
영어는 한국어보다 어려워요.
Earlier
I’m going to go earlier than yesterday.
일찍
어제보다 일찍 갈 거예요.
To be good at
Hyeonjeong is better than me (at doing that).
잘하다
현정 씨가 저보다 더 잘해요
I like buying books more than reading books.
저는 책을 읽는 것보다 사는 것을 더 좋아해요.

Were there more customers today than there were yesterday?
