Lecture8: Shoulder Region 1 Flashcards
What is the nerve supply of the Pectoralis Major?
Medial and Lateral pectoral nerves
What is the insertion of the pectoralis major?
Bicipital groove of humerus
Name Pectoralis Major functions?
Medial rotation, trunk elevation during climbing, shoulder flexion, shoulder adduction
What is the Pectoralis Minor insertion?
Coracoid process of scapula (medially)
What is the Pectoralis Minor nerve supply?
Medial pectoral nerve
Name actions of the Pectoralis Minor
Protraction of scapula and depression of shoulder
What is the nerve supply of the subclavius M?
Nerve to subclavius
What is the action of the Subclavius M?
Steadies the clavicle and fixes it to the first rib during movement of the upper limb
What is the deltoid attachment?
From lateral part of clavicle and spine of scapula to the deltoid tuberosity
What is the deltoid nerve supply?
Axillary nerve ( c5, c6 )
What is the action of the posterior fibres of the deltoid muscle?
Extension and lateral rotation of the Humerus
What is the action of the anterior fibres of the deltoid?
Flexion and medial rotation of humerus
What does axillary nerve injury lead to?
Paralysis of deltoid and flattening of shoulder
What is the Trapezius attached to?
Cervical and upper thoracic spines
What is the Latissimus dorsi attached to?
Lower part of back
What is the insertion of the Latissimus dorsi?
Bicipital groove
What is the insertion of trapezius?
Lateral part of clavicle and spine of scapula, acromion
What is the nerve supply of the traps?
Spinal accessory nerve
What is the nerve supply of the Latissimus dorsi?
Nerve to Latissimus dorsi
What are actions of the traps?
Scapula rotation, depression, elevation.
What is the actions of Latissimus dorsi?
Adducts, rotates, extends the arm, climbing and swimming
Where are the deep layer muscles attached to?
Medial border of scapula
What is the nerve supply to the Rhomboids?
Dorsal Scapular Nerve
What is the action of the Levator Scapulae?
Scapula elevation
What is the action of rhomboids?
Scapula retraction
What does traps paralysis lead to?
Shoulder drop
