one who believed in equal treatment for both sexes
what is patriarchy?
system of male domination in society
what is gender?
a socially constructed idea of mainly males and females
what is sex?
a personal biological classification of male, female or intersex
what is sexuality?
who a person is sexually attracted to
what does non-binary mean?
a person who does not identify as male or female and does not fit in the gender binary specturm
what is a cisgender person?
a person sexually matches theirs at birth
what is gender expression?
a way a person present themselves in terms of gender
what is gender identity?
a persons internal experience of gender
what is a gender role?
a socially constructed idea of how a particular gender should behave
what is agender?
not having a gender identity or having a neutral identity
what is polygender?
when someone adopts the traits of both genders
what is asexual?
when a person has sexual attraction to no one
what is Xenogender?
a non-binary gender not known to human understanding yet
what is a lexical gap?
when there is no word for something in a particular language
what is intersex?
when a persons anatomy does not fit the binary spectrum
how is biological sex defined?

what is cultural diffusion?
the spreading of ideas between countries
what is culture?
the belief ones holds about reality
what is liquid modernity?
a constant state of flux or change in cultural norms

learning culture by socializing
what is male privilege?
the social, economic and political advantages given to men only because they are men

the belief that innate psychological, behavioural and intellectual attributes justify men being superior to women

what is innate?
refers to something someone is born with
what is structural sexism?
they way society and institutions subordinate individuals based on their sex
what is cultural sexism?
the way the culture of society perpetrates the subordination of different sexes

when women come home from work and are left to do housework
what is traditional masculinity?
typical societal expectations of men
what is hegemonic masculinity?
promotes the dominance of men over women
what is the bad apple theory?
suggest that there is no larger problem and the situation is because of a few bad assholes
what is toxic masculinity?
behaviours in men that do not dominate others but are still negative
what is the fatherhood premium?
men with families are seen as more dependable and thus get a raise
why does the gender wage gap exist?
