what are the 4 components of concentration?
focusing on relevant environmental cues, maintaining attentional focus, maintaining sit awareness and shifting attentional focus
what are the types of attention?
internal, external, broad and narrow
what is the concentration grid exercise?
Improves ppl focus and in sport - can be used to focus on revision
what are the issues with the concentration grid exercise prior to an event?
can take mind off a game, frustrating if not good at it can piss you off before a game, might make someone cognitively fatigued - can impact the individuals fatigue - dont have endless concentration reserves
how effective is the concentration grid exercise?
training became better over time but not for the visual search performance and video observation performance
what are the principles of effective concentration - moran?
requires mental effort, conscious focus on only one thought, directed specific, relevant and controllable actions, can be affected by anxiety
what is an example of shift of attention?
Bio Kim - Someone said something and they messed up his conc and he missed his shot
what is the psychometric approach?
awareness, external and internal distractibility, action/focused and reduced flexibility
stroop test
what are the measures of the neuroscientific approach?
heart rate, EEG and brain imaging
what are concentration strategies?
concentration grid, goal setting, pre-performance routines, imagery, self-talk
