experiences e.g. a winning streak, other confident ppl, task difficulty and relation to others

Belief that one can successfully execute the specific behaviour required to produce the desired outcome

performance accomplishments, vicarious experiences, verbal persuasion and emotional arousal
what are performance accomplishments?
enhance prob of success, guided part, goal setting
what are vicarious experiences?
modelling, self-modelling and imagery
what is verbal persuasion?
pos statements from others, praise, self-talk, evaluative feedback from coach
what is emotional arousal?
progressive muscle relaxation, manipulate interpretations of arousal symptoms
what does mental skills training (MST) involve?
mental rehearsal, self-talk, cog thought stopping, cog restructuring
