Gender dysphoria
Individuals who do not identify as the sex they were assigned at birth.
Gender euphoria
Feeling of happiness experienced from moving away from one’s birth-assigned gender.
Hormone replacement therapy
Use of hormones to make one’s body look more like one’s gender identity.
Sexual orientation and the brain
Greater prenatal exposure to testosterone
causes male-typical brain development and partner preference. Lower levels of prenatal testosterone lead to female-typical brain development and partner preference.
Intersexual selection
Members of the same sex compete in order to win the opportunity to mate with members of the opposite sex.

Members of one sex select a mating partner based on their desirable traits.

Used to advertise an individual’s sexual orientation

Single orgasm followed by a refractory period.
Gender roles
Refers to accepted attitudes and behaviours of males and females in society.
