Samkya dualism
Believes in the concept that there are two worlds, one where there is a seer and a scene. The scene consists of mind, emotitions, objects etc. and the seer uses the mind to percieve this
Samkya prakrithi
Prakrithi-matter, objects in the external world and the internal mind, seen as seperate from the mind.
The three gunas and their distinction from nyaya
These are the three aspects that prakrithi is made of and which all other things from the external environment and mind evolve from. Nyaya believes in external objects and qualities that are seperate from one another.
Three aspects of mind
- Mind-emotions and thought
- Ego-thinks that they are experiencing the world. Aspect of the mind that filters out the world so that you feel that the experiences you face are unique to yourself and are limited.
- Intelligence
samkya and conciousness
believes that the conciousness is independent of the mind as we can become aware of our own thoughts and feelings. This conciousness will become ominpresent once liberated.
Sattva, tamka, rajva
- Sattva-peacfulness, compassion and kindness
- tamka-external solid objects that hold things down, mental bringdown feelings like depression
- Rajva-anger, fear and ambition
Yoga school
Adopts samkya philosophy and focuses on the practices of meditation to numb the mind and extract the conciousness to reach the state of liberation. First you must make your mind sattvic and then you must go deeper realize the atman. Once you do this you will
