Lecture 4 - Interaction Challenges - Occlusion Flashcards
What is occlusion?
Screen is covered during touch input.
-> targets can’t be seen during touch input
-> 2 types = under finger or under the rest of the hand or limb
What is the easiest way of dealing with occlusion?
Re griping
What is the shift input technique?
When a bubble appears showing what is underneath the fingertip (shows the precise cursor).
What are the advantages of the shift input technique?
- allows for precise selection of small targets
What is the alternative version of the shift input technique?
Dragging the finger down while being able to control the previous location. (implemented in IOS)
What is the back of device input?
A separate device mounted at the back of the mobile device, as to decouple the input/output nature of the touchscreen, which allows small target selection.
Advantages of the back of the device input?
- allows for precise input
- can shrink the device, while having no issue of occlusion
