how does hydration effect lactate
dehydrated = more lactate
what is lactate a marker of?
lactate is just a marker of rate of anaerobic glyolysis relative to oxidative metabolism, and of ability to clear lactate from blood.
what influences lactate production?
increase oxygen supply, increase o2 utilisation, change in fibre type recruitment, decrease catecholamines and increase fat usage.
what influences lactate clearance
increase in o2 supply, increase in capillarisation, increase in mitochondrial density, increase in la shuttle, increase in core cycle
how to train lactate threshold
some high intensity interval training to increase lactate and stimulate clearance.
how does increase in fuel availability improves endurance with training.
increase storage (CHO and triglycerides), increase uptake and synthesis (both glucose and FFA) decrease reliance on blood glucose and muscle glycogen.
how does decrease in accumulation of lactate and hydrogen improve endurance
change in LDH subtype
increase NADH shuttles into mitochondria
increase ATP (less ADP therefore less PFK activation)

increase sweat rate power and capacity. increase skin blood flow at given absolute or relative intensity.
how does a more favourable body composition help improve endurance.
decrease adipose tissue fat (more economy and heat loss, less heat gain).
what structural adaptations improve endurance
INCREASE IN bone density ( in loaded bones/limbs) and cartilage, tendon and ligaments
does gut microbiome effect endurance
yes, lactate seems beneficial.
what adaptations take years to become measureable
HRmax, left ventricle mass, economy and bone density.
what adaptations takes days to become measureable
glucose sensitivity, glycogen storage, skeletal m antioxidant capacity, cardiac antioxidant capacity.
