- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganised speech

- negative symptoms –> reduced experience of emotion

What are the causes of schizophrenia?

A
  • brain disorder due to either predisposing factors, or environment causes
  • birth month (sickness)
  • pregnancy or birth complications

What are some treatments for schizophrenia?

A
  • anti-psychotic medication, although this is relatively effective, it does have significant side effects side effects
  • CBT, focusing on how clients attribute their behaviors, and challenging delusional beliefs

Different cultures understand and interpret psychosis as some view it as an illness that needs to be fixed and controlled, whereas some cultures view it as a gift and a method with those in other universes, religious and spiritual reasonings for their symptoms
