A

A

thru movie fans buying action figures that are cheap to make but are sold at a high price. this brings money into the country, companies, and private manufacturers.

how can movies improve or harm health?

A

horror movies give ppl a rush of adrenaline that can cause cardiovascular issues, such as heart attacks. comedy movies can have positive effects on cardiovascular health. 15 minutes of consistent laughing can have the same effects on the heart that a short exercise circuit can.

A

forbade profanity, limited bedroom scenes to married couples, required modest clothing,delineated the length of on screen kisses, ruled out scenes that ridiculed religious leaders and public officials, outlawed certain words (god, nuts),

who is otto preminger and the United Artists?

A

otto was a director under the united artists, and they made a movie in 1953 called blue moon, which was a sex comedy that used banned words. the mppc forbade them from releasing it but the united artists company did it anyway. they released another movie called the man with the golden arm that starred frank sinatra as a drug addict, and the mppc forbade that too. the company released it anyway, and didn’t face any repercussions. this broke the power of the mppa.

A

it was made in 1966 by the national picture association of america.
g for general audiences, pg for parental guidance recommended, pg13 for parental guidance advised, r for no one under 17 unless with an adult, and nc17 (x) for no one under the age of 17.

how did the red scare impact the movie industry?

A

senator joseph mccarthy started his “search for communists” after ww2. in 1947, the house of unamerican activities announced their goal to rid hollywood of leftists. mccarthy accused many producers of putting propaganda in movies and ruined their careers. the movie industry practiced self censorship bc of this.
