Lecture 29: B and T cell Interaction Flashcards
1
Q
What is required for B cell activation and plasma cell differentiation ?
A
TH2 Helper T cells
2
Q
What are B cells inherently prone to do ?
A
Die by apoptosis
3
Q
What do signals do in B cells ?
A
Signal 1 and 2 upregulate Bcl-X in the B cell which prevents apoptosis
4
Q
What do T cells do to B cells ?
A
T cells regulate the survival of B cells and thus control the clonal selection of B cells
5
Q
What happens when the helper T cell adheres to the B cell ?
A
Begins to synthesise IL4 and CD40
6
Q
What is involved in B cell activation ?
A
- Proliferation
- Cytokine production
- Differentiation into IgM secreing plasma cells
- Memory cells
- Class switching
- Differentiation into IgG secreting plasma cells
