Lecture 12- Calculating heart rate Flashcards
1
Q
ECG paper moves at
A
25mm /second
2
Q
horizontal axis
A
time in seconds
3
Q
verticle axis
A
voltage in mV
4
Q
each cardiac cycle represents
A
one heart beat i.e. one QRS complex
therefore- one R-R interval equals one heart beat
5
Q
calculating a heart rate when rhythm is regular
A
count how many big boxes been R-R and /300
= 300/4= 75bpm
6
Q
Calculating heart rate when rhythm is irregular
A
Calculates heart rate by counting the number of QRS complexes in 6 seconds (30 small squares)- then multiply by 10 to get total heart beats in 60 seconds
e.g. 10 x 70= 70bpm
