Health Promotion
The process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behaviour towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions.
Explanatory theory
Describes the reason why a problem exists.
Change theory
Guides the development of health interventions.
3 factors of behavioural ecology
The individual, the social group, the community/society/culture.
5 levels of influence within a social ecology of behaviour
Individual, family/social group, community/population group, cultural/societal, political/economic/structural.
WHO definition of health
A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
