Lec 9/15 Flashcards
sympathetic nervous system is also known as
thoraco-lumbar system cuz preganglionic cell bodies orginate in lateral (intermediate) horn of spinal segment T1-L2
what characteristics of parasympathetic?
not present in limbs, forcibly brings body back to homeostasis
what are characteristics of enteric?
found in digestive system and self regulates motility. (Auerbach’s and Meissner’s plexus)
is there a synapse in a signal transferred from spinal cord to skeletal muscle (somatic efferent)?
no
where is origin of somatic efferent (motor neuron)?
ventral horn
is there a synapse in a signal transferred from spinal cord to blood vessel, sweat gland (visceral efferent)?
yes
where is origin of visceral efferent motor?
intermediate horn
what is pathway of sympathetic neurons?
starts at intermediate horn, travels thru ventral root and white ramus communicans, synapse at ganglion, and then travel thru gray ramus communicans and ventral primary ramus
what is foregut composed of?
(8)pharynx, esophagus, stomach, spleen, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, first 1/3 of duodenum
what is midgut composed of?
(7) rest 2/3 of duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, appendix, ascending colon, first 1/3 of transverse colon
what is hindgut composed of?
(5)last 2/3 of transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, rectum, anus
