Q

Coronary Atherosclerosis

A

A buildup of plaque inside the artery walls. This buildup causes the inside of the arteries to become narrower and slows down the flow of blood.

Q

What is the etoilogy and pathophysiology for cardiovascular disease ?

A
  • Characterized by fat and lipid deposits in the inner lining or artery that obstruct circulation
  • When vessel walls damaged, platelets activated and aggregate
  • Thrombin generated, fibrin formed
  • Results in occlusion, reduced blood flow, MI, or death

Q

Stages of Development: Complicated Lesion

A
  • Platelets accumulate; thrombus formation
  • Most dangerous
  • Thrombus grows
  • Continued narrowing or occlusion
