A theory which is concerned with thinking and understanding rather than connecting stimuli to responses.
(Insight learning)

A
- That we are continually receiving infomation from our surroundings
- We work out what is happening using memories and previous knowledge / understanding

Give an example an example of cognitive learning
A
A cricketer who learns to swing the ball when bowling by understanding the basic mechanics of movement is using cognitive theory

- That we perceive objects as a whole, rather than a collection of parts
- Example: playing the game so participants understand what is required rather than learning skills separately
