Everyone agreed on the need to industrialise but how it would be done was hard to decide

The NEP was introduced in 1921 and was considered controversial and it stepped away from the ideas of Marxism as it allowed the continuation of private trade

Impossible for revolution to survive in one country as other capitalist countries would attack Russia

Workers paradise
Why did Stalin not want a world revolution?
He believed that Russia’s working class were too small and the economy too under developed
Why did Stalin’s policy appeal to the party?
Offered stability for party and appealed to patriotism and nationalism
It was a flexible party that gave leaders influence and it didn’t come across as aggressive

High unemployment
