- Group : operating in a group of people
- Common Goal achievement : Directing a group of people toward the achievement of something together

- An individual perceived by others as the most influential member of a group or organization regardless of the individual’s title
- Emerges over time

- the thought that “what one does” makes one a leader
- effective leaders exhibit the same types of behaviours that motivate others toward a common goal

- What is the path goal theory ?
A
- the thought that subordinates are given goals , and during their path to the goal , they can face obstacles and it is the leaders responsibilities to assist them in attaining their goals by removing the obstacles or clearing the paths to various goals of interest to employees
- doing this will increase subordinates expectation of completing their task and increase motivation and job satisfaction
