Regional History
Winemaking has a long history back until the 5th century BCE.
Languedoc has belonged to France since the 13th century, but Roussillon was part of Spain
until the mid-13th century.
After phylloxera when other regions replanted with high-quality grapes, the growers here
decided to plant high-yielding grapes to increase production but not necessarily quality.
Wine Styles
Winemakers utilize all styles of winemaking from oak chips, to new oak barrels, to mass
stainless steel fermentation too long aging for quality wines. There truly is no set style
except for AOP sparkling and fortified wines
