Pertaining to the calf or posterior surface of the leg (sural nerve is found in this region)

Above (superior vena cava carries blood to the hear from areas above the level of the heart)

Below (inferior vena cava)

Front (the umbilicus is on the anterior surface of the body)

Toward the midline (the tibia is medial to the fibula)

Away from the midline or medial plane (the fibula is lateral to the tibia)
Cephalad (cranial)
Toward the head (same meaning as Cephalic)

Nearer to the trunk or attached end (ex: the proximal portion of the trachea is attached to the larynx)
Distal
Farther from the trunk or attached end (the distal portion of the trachea is attached to the primary bronchi)
