Landing Gear And Brakes Flashcards
How is the landing Gear controlled and actuated?
Electronically controlled, hydraulically operated, and mechanically locked.
What does the landing gear handle light indicate?
Advisory light (amber) signifies landing gear position does not agree with position of the landing Gear selector handle.
What does the inhibit switch do?
Setting the switch to INHIBIT prevents the LANDING GEAR selector handle from operating the Gear.
When do you need to do an alternate landing gear extension?
- when LDG GEAR INOP caution light is on
- Landing Gear does not extend/ or retract normally
- Loss of No.2 hydraulic system pressure or fluid
What happens when you open the alternate landing gear release door (above the F/O’s seat)?
Open, connects hydraulic extension and retraction lines to return.
Alternate extension hydraulic fluid available for alternate main gear extension.
Gear cannot be extended or retracted, using normal hydraulic power. Door must stay open for alternate Gear extension.
What happens when you open the alternate release panel (floor)?
Opening the door mechanically operates the alternate Gear selector valve, for the main Gear.
Gear cannot be retracted if this door is open. (Check during originating Checklist)
What is the maximum speed for an alternate landing gear extension?
185 KIAS
What is the minimum parking brake pressure required for engine start?
500 psi (#2 Engine) 1000 psi (#1 Engine)
What is the minimum speed for operation of the anti skid system?
10kts
When will the anti skid braking system be available after landing?
When there is weight on wheels and gear down and locked signals.
5 second delay after weight on wheels before brake pressure is applied. This delay is cancelled when Wheel speed is more than 35kts.
What is the steering range with the steering tiller?
70 degrees either side of center
What is steering range using differential braking and power?
8 degrees either side of center
What is the maximum speed at which landing gear can be operated (VLO)?
200 KIAS
What is the maximum speed at which the landing gear can remain extended (VLE)?
215 KIAS
