Q

What happens to the pressure to the Rudder actuators as the speed increases?

A

As speed increase, FCECU reduces the hydraulic pressure available to the PCU’s. Inputs from either Rudder pedals cause less Rudder deflection.

Q

What will happen if Pressure is lost on one Rudder actuator?

A
  • # 1 RUD HYD or #2 RUD HYD caution light will come on.

- FCECU will now modify the regulated hyd pressure to the operating PCU to maintain the required Rudder authority.

Q

What will happen if both Rudder PUSH OFF’s are pressed at the same time?

A

Both PUSH advisory lights come on, and neither Rudder PCU will be depressurized.

(Normally, pushing either RUD 1 or RUD 2 depressurizes the upper or lower Rudder PCU, respectively.)

Q

What controls the rate of pitch trim?

A

The FCECU, depending on the airspeed. Below 150KIAS, the trim actuators operate in high speed mode. At speeds more than 250 KIAS, they operate in low speed mode. The FCECU adjusts the trim rate between 150 KIAS and 250 KIAS.

The FCECU receives airspeed data from both ADC’s.

Q

What does the ELEV FEEL caution light indicate?

A
  • One pitch feel actuator has FAILED.
  • if airspeed #1 not equal to airspeed #2-17kts (IAS MISMATCH message on PFD), RUD CTRL, SPLR OUTBD, PITCH TRIM caution lights also come on, or
  • Normal acceleration is not valid
