Communications Flashcards
When does the CVR operate?
When the aircraft electrical system is powered, the CVR records the last two hours.
When does the FDR operate?
With power available, the FDR will record if:
- Anti collision light is set to RED or WHITE
- Both engines running (based on oil pressure)
- aircraft airborne
- FLIGHT DATA RCDR switch is held at GND TEST
Unit records 25 hours of data in a continuous loop format. An inertia switch removes power from the system if the G-forces are more than the present limits.
What will happen when you select EMERG mode? (NORM/EMERG switch on ARCDU)
If RCAU fails, a FAIL message is shown on the second line of the INT display area, on the ARCDU. Setting the NORM/EMERG switch to EMERG on ARCDU1 connects the pilots headset directly to VHF Comm 1 audio output, and INT audio on side only, and provides a direct connection of the pilots transmitter key line to VHF Comm 1 (when keyed).
Same for copilot on ARCDU2, if done on ARCDU2.
Red EMERG message on the third line of the INT display area.
What’s the difference between the CALL and EMERG button on ARCDU?
Same as call key except:
- amber EMERG lights on ARCDU, and both the F/A keyboard (fwd) and handset (aft), will flash.
- red flashing annunciator on the cabin attendant advisory light panels
- chime sound is broadcast in the flight compartment and in the cabin
- selection of EMERG mode at any other station overrides and postpones the CALL mode.
