Landing Gear And Brakes Flashcards
What speed is tiller disabled
80kts
What is the max speed on takeoff for an effective nosewheel steering input?
Nosewheel steering at zero efficiency at 130kts.

Explain the Braking Modes on A320.
Normal (G)
Alternate with antiskid (Y)
Alternate without antiskid (Y, 7 x 1000 PSI)
Parking brake (Y, Accumulator up to 12h)
[FCOM 32-30-10]
Alternate braking without anti-skid.
Why is the pressure automatically limited to 1000psi?
To avoid wheel locking and limit the risk of tire burst.
[FCOM 32-30-10]
Alternate braking without anti-skid.
How many full braking applications can be supplied by the accumulator?
At least 7 full applications.
[FCOM 32-30-10]
Describe auto brake deceleration modes
Landing:
LO - spoiler deploy + 2 sec | Rate 2m/s²
MED - spoiler deploy + 2 sec | Rate 3m/s²
Takeoff:
MAX - Only when spoiler deflection detected and wheel speed above 40 kts. Min speed for spoiler deflection is 72 kts wheel speed.
[FCOM 32-30-10]
What are the conditions to arm the autobrake?
1) Selection of LO, MED or MAX pb.
2) Green hydraulic pressure available.
3) Anti-Skid electronically powered.
4) No failure in brake system detected.
5) At least one ADIRU available.
[FCOM 32-30-10]
When will the DECEL light come on?
When actual deceleration is 80% of the selected rate.
[FCOM 32-30-20]
How does anti-skid function?
The speed of each wheel is compared to the aircraft speed. When the speed of a wheel decreases below 0.87 times the aircraft speed, brake release orders are given to maintain the slip value at the best breaking efficiency.
Anti-skid deactivates below 20kts.
[FCOM 32-30-10]
What is the max tire speed?
Ground Speed 195 kts.
[FCOM LIM-AG-SPD]
QRH procedures for gear/brakes?
Loss of braking
Gravity gear extension
Landing with abnormal gear
Asymmetric braking
