Q

How does THS move? What hydraulic system powers it?

A

THS mounted on a screw jack which rotates to move it.

Powered by 2 motors. Yellow and Green

6
Q

Which computers control THS and how?

A

3 electric motors control 2 hydraulic motors
ELAC 2 powers motor 1
If that fails ELAC 1 will power motor 2
If both fail a SEC will power motor 2 or 3

16
Q

If spoiler deployed and associated hydraulic system fails what will happen?

A

Maintain last position (may be blown back)

17
Q

How is rudder hydraulically actuated? Redundancy?

A

Actuated by 3 jacks connected in parallel.
All 3 hydraulic systems power it
Primary Green
Secondary Yellow
Back up blue but no automatic movement and AP drops out

18
Q

Which hydraulic sources power the spoilers?

A

GYBYG FUSELAGE GYBYG

19
Q

Which computers control rudder?

A

ELACs calculate inputs and FACs control them

20
Q

How does the rudder travel limiter function?

A

At high speeds it limits rudder movements to prevent excess strain on fuselage

21
Q

At high speeds what happens if you apply full rudder input?

A

Get full rudder deflection

22
Q

If rudder travel limiter fails in flight what happens?

A

Maintains last setting, motors to low speed setting at flaps 1 to allow full deflection

23
Q

How does rudder trim operate?

A

2 motors control rudder trim and artificial trim
Motor 1 powered by FAC 1
Motor 2 powered by FAC 2
Rudder trim controller and reset are inhibited with AP on

24
Q

5 conditions that inhibit speedbrakes?

A
Config full
TOGA
AoA protection
Elevator fault
SEC 1 and 3 fail
25
Q

Above what speed will the spoilers deploy on RTO?

A

72kts

26
Q

What is phased lift dump? When does full lift dump occur?

A

Partial spoiler deployment when only one main gear grounded. Once other gear grounded get full spoiler deployment

27
Q

How many slats and flaps are there?

A

5 slats on each wing

2 flaps on each wing

28
Q

Which hydraulic system actuates the flaps and slats?

A

Flaps Green and Yellow
Slats Green and Blue
Calculated by 2 SFCCs

29
Q

If hydraulic system fails or SFCC fails what is the effect on flap/slat deployment?

A

Travel at half speed

30
Q

What happens when flap handle is moved?

A

SFCCs check the position of the surfaces and then energise the power control unit to drive the surfaces.
Position pick off sensors in the gear box stop the surface at its desired position

31
Q

What happens if flap mechanism fails?

A

Causes one or more surface to flap around. This is detected and surface is disconnected

32
Q

What happens if slats or flaps deploy unevenly?

A

Asymmetric pick off unit is looking for asymmetric deployment.
It will then deploy wing tip brakes to prevent further movement
