Landing Gear Flashcards
Where are brake temperatures displayed?
Brake Temp Monitoring System (BTMS) displays each brake temp on the EICAS status display.
On the accessory panel in the 767, what does a white illuminated Reserve Brakes and Steering Isolation (ISLN) light mean?
The center number one electric primary hydraulic pump is isolated to provide hydraulic pressure to the reserve brakes and steering system.
On the 767, what effect will a loss of electrical power have on normal or alternate gear extension?
With loss of both AC buses, flight beyond 30 minutes may result in complete loss of electrical power and the inability to extend the gear and the flaps. (read: bad day)
What does an amber illuminated BRAKE SOURCE light indicate?
Both normal and alternate brake system pressures are low, the accumulator is the current source of hydraulic brake pressure.
In which brake systems (Normal, alternate, reserve), is antiskid available?
All brake systems
In which brake systems (normal, alternate, reserve) are autobrakes available?
Normal brake system only
What are the different brake systems and their hydraulic sources in the 757?
Normal (right)
Alternate (left)
Reserve (right)
What are the different brake systems and their hydraulic sources in the 767?
Normal (right)
Alternate (center)
Reserve (center)
What are the conditions required for the RTO autobrake operation to engage?
Automatically applies max brake pressure when the thrust lever are retarded to idle above 85 kts and the aircraft is on the ground.
What are the various ways the autobrakes can be disarmed?
- Autobrake or normal antiskid system fault
- Speedbrake lever is moved from the full up position after the speedbrakes have deployed on the ground
- Either thrust lever advanced after landing
- Off or disarm position selected on autobrakes selector
- Pedal braking applied
What are the conditions required for the autobrakes to operate during landing?
-Normal brakes must be operating (autobrake system also functions on reserve brakes on the 757)
-1,2,3,4, or MAX AUTO selects deceleration rate
NOTE: To maintain the desired deceleration rate, autobrake pressure is reduced as other controls contribute to total deceleration.
What does an amber illuminated GEAR light mean?
The gear position disagrees with the lever position.
What does an amber illuminated DOORS light mean?
A gear door is not closed.
What does a white illuminated BRAKE TEMP light mean?
A wheel brake temperature is in the high range (a value of 5 or above on the status page)
What does the Landing Gear Lever Lock Override (LOCK OVRD) do?
When pushed, releases the landing gear lever lock.
