General, Emergency Equipment, Doors, Windows Flashcards
What is the function and location of the cockpit light override switch?
Overrides normal controls and illuminates various cockpit lights at maximum brightness. Located on the overhead panel.
What is the location of the flight deck emergency light switch?
The switch is located on the overhead panel.
Explain the function of the 3 positions of the flight deck emergency light switch.
OFF- Prevents emergency lights system operation if airplane electrical power fails or is turned off.
ARMED- All emergency lights illuminate if airplane electrical power fails or is turned off.
ON- All emergency lights illuminate.
Other than the flight deck, where else can the Emergency Lights be manually activated from?
From the flight attendant panel in the front of the cabin, regardless of the flight deck switch position.
Explain the use of the cockpit sliding windows in the 757/767.
All 757/767’s have two cockpit sliding windows which may be used as emergency exits.
In addition to the cockpit sliding windows, identify the number and location of all normal entry/exit doors and emergency exits in the 757 series.
Most 757’s have 6 entry doors and 4 overwing emergency exit doors.
Some 757’s have 6 entry doors and 2 emergency exit doors aft of the wing (with no overwing emergency exits).
In addition to the cockpit sliding windows, identify the number and location of all normal entry/exit doors and emergency exits in the 767 series.
Most 767’s have 4 entry doors and 4 overwing emergency exit doors.
Some 767’s have 6 entry doors and 2 overwing emergency exit doors.
What are the flight deck indications for entry/service doors open, and where are they indicated?
ENTRY DOORS light illuminates amber located on the overhead panel.
An EICAS advisory message will show which specific doors are not closed, latched, and locked.
Locate and describe the flight deck indications for access and E&E doors.
ACCESS DOORS light on the overhead panel illuminates amber with associated EICAS door message if the forward equipment bay or the electrical equipment compartment door is not closed, latched, and locked. (Vol 2, 1.30 and 1.50)
How can you tell if multiple doors are open?
The EICAS will display a specific door advisory (L FWD ENT DOOR) for a single, or (L ENTRY DOORS) for multiple doors on the same side that aren’t closed, latched, and locked.
Locate and describe the flight deck indications for emergency doors.
EMER DOORS light on the overhead panel illuminates amber with associated EICAS door message if a forward or aft (left or right) emergency door, or wing slide door is not closed, latched, and locked.
Locate and describe the flight deck indications for cargo doors.
CARGO DOORS light on the overhead panel illuminates amber with associated EICAS door message if the forward or aft cargo compartment door (or the bulk cargo door on the 767) is not closed, latched, and locked.
What is the recommended minimum pavement width for a 180 degree turn?
757-200 - 120 ft
757-300 - 141 ft
767-300 - 146 ft
Describe the relationship of the nose, wingtip, and tail during a turn.
- The turn radius of the wingtip is largest, except for the 757-300 where the tail radius is largest.
- The turn radius of the tail is larger than the nose on all airplanes.
- The turn radius of the nose is less than both the wingtip AND the tail on all airplanes.
Where is the bulk cargo compartment door?
Only the 767 has a bulk cargo compartment door, and it is located on the left aft fuselage.
