wash hands, introduce self
1 - NOSE: look outside and then internal exam (tilt head, breath in, hold)
2 - SINUSES: palpate and percuss
3 - ORAL: look at all mucosa, teeth, tongue, hard/soft palate, say “ahh”
4 - THYROID: look at it, palpate lobes, “swallow”
5 - NODES:
Sub-occipital
Post-auricular
Pre-auricular
Submandibular
Submental
Anterior and posterior superficial cervical
Supraclavicular

SP FINAL: Imagine/write your way through the eyes and ears exam

A

wash hands, introductions
1 - EXTERNAL EYE: corneal reflection, lateral penlight to look at cornea from side and then to look at iris from the front, pupils, eyelid and eyelid margin and eyelid position
2 - CONJUNCTIVA AND SCLERA: hold patients eye and ask them to look down and up
3 - LACRIMAL GLAND AND DUCT: press and ask about pain
4 - INTERNAL EYE: red reflex, optic disc, vessels in all 4 quadrants, anterior chamber
5 - EXTERNAL EAR: look at all the skin, palpate pinna and pre/post-auricular lymph nodes, pull pinna, push tragus, push and percuss mastoid process. “Pain?”
6 - INTERNAL EAR: look at external auditory meatus and tympanic membrane
