Lab 6: Appendicular Skeleton Flashcards
What are the components of the Pectoral Gridle? How can the right and left be distinguished?
- Clavicle
- First determined sternal and acromial(distal) end
- Then look for subclavical groove (inferior)to determine R/L
- Scapula
- Determine superior angle and acromion(distal)
- Determine R/L by looking at acromion position
What is this structure? What are the three articulation points? Label the image (4)
Clavicle
Sternal articulates to Manibrium
Acromial articulates to acromium process
Conoid tubercle articulates to coronoid ligament
What is this structure? What are the two articulation points? Label the image (13)
** Scapula**
Glenoid fossa articulates with Humeral head
Acromion articulates with clavicle
What three bones are a part of the upper limb? How can R/L be determined?
- Humerous
- Identify coronoid fossa (ventral) or olecran fossa (dorsal)
- The lateral epicondyle indicates which side is lateral
- Radius
- Head and neck are superior compared to radial styloid process
- Radial styloid process is lateral to the ulna in anatomical position
- Ulna
- Identify Olecranon which is superior relative to the ulna styloid process
- Ulna styloid process is medial to the radius
What is this structure? Label the image (17).
What are these two structures? Label the image (17).
How can you tell if a hand is R/L
- Ulna will be on medial side
- The anterior view will have 4 bones along the bottom row
What are the eight carpals?
- Trapezium
- Trapezoid
- Capitate
- Hamate
- Scaphoid
- Lunate
- Triquetrum
- Pisiform
How are the metacarpals numbered? What a the the components of the phalanx?
- I->V thumb is I
- Proximal, middle, distal
What bones make up the pelvic girdle?
- 2 Os coxae, 1 sacrum, 1 coccyx
What is the pubic symphysis? Subpubic angle? Pelvic brim? What is the difference between the true and false pelvis? How are the male and female pelvis different?
What are the structures in this image? Label them (28).
What bones are a part of the lower limb? How can R/L be distinguished?
- Patella
- Femur
- The fovea capitis is superior to the patellar surface
- Intercondular fossa is dorsal
- Tibia
- Tibial tuberosity is located anterior
- Medial malleolus is medial close to the inside of the ankle
- Fibula
- Locate the head and neck which are superior to the lateral malleolus
- Lateral malleolus is lateral on the outside of the leg
What are these two structures? Label them(15).
What are these two structures? Label them (10).
