Lab 6: Appendicular Skeleton Flashcards

1
Q

What are the components of the Pectoral Gridle? How can the right and left be distinguished?

A
  1. Clavicle
    • First determined sternal and acromial(distal) end
    • Then look for subclavical groove (inferior)to determine R/L
  2. Scapula
    • Determine superior angle and acromion(distal)
    • Determine R/L by looking at acromion position

Q

What three bones are a part of the upper limb? How can R/L be determined?

A
  1. Humerous
    • Identify coronoid fossa (ventral) or olecran fossa (dorsal)
    • The lateral epicondyle indicates which side is lateral
  2. Radius
    • Head and neck are superior compared to radial styloid process
    • Radial styloid process is lateral to the ulna in anatomical position
  3. Ulna
    • Identify Olecranon which is superior relative to the ulna styloid process
    • Ulna styloid process is medial to the radius

Q

What bones are a part of the lower limb? How can R/L be distinguished?

A
  1. Patella
  2. Femur
    • The fovea capitis is superior to the patellar surface
    • Intercondular fossa is dorsal
  3. Tibia
    • Tibial tuberosity is located anterior
    • Medial malleolus is medial close to the inside of the ankle
  4. Fibula
    • Locate the head and neck which are superior to the lateral malleolus
    • Lateral malleolus is lateral on the outside of the leg
