Lab Flashcards
Name the stages in order of tooth formation
primary epithelial band, bud stage, cap stage, bell stage,
what does the primary epithelial band consist of
vestibular lamina, dental lamina
Bud stage
first epithelial incursion into ectomesenchyme of jaw
cap stage
scrooges hat!, dental papilla forms and dental follicle surrounds everything
cap stage cont’d
start of cell differentiation. Peripheral cells differentiate into inner/outer enamel epithelia. Central cells turn into stellate reticulum
what is the enamel knot in the cap stage?
only in molar teeth, organization center for cusps
early bell stage has 2 things
innterinvesting layer & outer layer of dental follicle
enamel cords purpose
divides cusps and helps place 1st cusp
cervical loop purpose
junction between outer and inner epithelium
main event of bell stage
formation occurs, incisors rotate, cusps form on molars
