Explain why an artery is an organ.
An organ is defined as a structure that contains two or more tissue types that perform a specific function. An artery contains smooth muscle tissue and connective tissue. It’s function is to move blood away from the head to the rest of the body.
Name two major organ systems that communicate within the body to maintain homeostasis. Briefly describe their different control mechanisms.
Endocrine: produces chemical hormones that travel in the blood to create an effect
Nervous system: sends electrical signals to activate certain glands
Explain the role that the skeletal system plays in facilitating cardiovascular system function.
