1) according to the pattern for masculine nouns of the second declension
2) but any articles, adjectives, or other modifier associated will be feminine

How to recognize a masculine noun of the first declension
it will end in -ης
How will masculine nouns of the first declension decline?
1) The Nom singular will end in -ης
2) The Gen Singular will end as a 2nd -ου
3) the voc singular will end in -α
4) Otherwise will decline as a pure eta
