What does does the aorist participle express?

1) When a participle is grammatically independent of the rest of the sentence

Example:
λεγούσης τῆς γυναικὸς τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἔκραξεν τὸ τέκνον.
While the woman was speaking these words, the child cried out.
What is a Periphrastic Participles?
a form of the verb εἰμί combined with a participle, producing a compound verbal expression.
For example
“I was teaching” can be expressed with the imperfect tense of διδάσκω: ἐδίδασκον. or ἤμην διδάσκων.
ὁ διδάσκαλος τῆς δικαιοσύνης ἦν βαπτίζων ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ. The teacher of righteousness was baptizing in the desert.

1) Time: after/as/while- ἔτι λέγοντος αὐτοῦ ταῦτα, ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον. While he was still saying these things, his wife entered the house.
2) Manner: by/with- ἔχων ἐξουσίαν ἐκήρυξεν ὁ ἀπόστολος ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ. The apostle preached with authority in the synagogue.
3) Means: by/with/through- ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἔσωσεν τὰ τέκνα ἐκεῖνα ἀποθνῄσκων ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν. The man saved those children (by) dying in their behalf.
4) Cause: because- βουλόμενοι γινώσκειν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ θεοῦ πολλάκις προσηυξάμεθα. Because we wanted to know the will of God, we prayed often.
5) Concession: although- ὄντες υἱοὶ ὀφείλετε ἐργάζεσθαι τὴν γῆν μετὰ τῶν δούλων. Although you are sons, you ought to work the land with the slaves.
6) Condition: if- μὴ ἐργαζόμενοι ἔργα ἀγάπης πῶς γενησόμεθα ἀγαθοὶ μαθηταί; If we do not do works of love, how will we become good disciples?
