A

  1. Lateral collateral Ligament
  2. Posterolateral Capsule
  3. Occasionally Biceps femoris & IT band

  2. Increase joint opening

Knee extended- pasterolateral capsule, Lateral collateral lig, biceps
Knee slightly flexed- Lateral collateral lig, It band

A

Th- 1. Distract - Pull up (Lift up) grab above malleoli
2. Rotate

Px- Hook-lying
Th- Sit on Px’s foot and Draw tibia forward

A

Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)

Px- Supine with hip and knee flexed
Th- See if the tibial Tuberosity visible and sagged(BL)

*Rule out to the PCL prior to testing ALC

  • att to the edge of the tibial plateau via coronary lig
  • Popliteus but NOT to the lateral collateral lig

Posterior horns of meniscus

Px- Supine
Th-
1. grasp px’s heel and around knee
2. Fully Flex the knee - Rotate tibia IR and ER
3. Extend Knee (almost full) Tibia Externally extend - Valgus
Tibia internally rotate- Varus

Tibia ER- Valgus
Tibia IR- Varus

Heel IN/Push IN - Medial meniscus
Heel OUT/Push OUT - Lateral meniscus

Positive

Patella Femoral Compression Test

A

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
Quality of the articulate cartilage b/w the posterior aspect of patella and femoral condyles

Px- high seated and knee extended
Th- push the patella posteriorly against the Femoral condyle
- Repeat at 30, 60,90 degree of FL

Positive - Pain

A

Patella dislocation/subluxations

Px- supine and knee FL 30 degree
Th- Push patellar Laterally (slowly and carefully)

  1. Px Apprehension
  2. Cotracting the quads to patella back in alignment

A

IT Band Friction Syndrome (runner’s knee)

Px- Supine with knee and hip extended
Th- Applied pressure just proximal to the lateral epicondyle while the knee actively / possibly EX/ FL

Positive
1. Pain at 30degree (FL) at point specific @ proximal lateral epicondyle
