Human resource management
The process of managing the relationship between employees and business. Involves effective use of people within the business to achieve business objectives.
Business objectives
the stated goals a business is aiming to achieve in a specified period of time.
Human resource
People in an organisation
Stakeholder
The individuals or group that have a direct or vested interest in the group. The decisions made by the business directly affect these people.
Internal stakeholders
Employees, managers, owners
External stakeholders
Suppliers, society, customers, government and creditors
How does can human resource management help the company increase sales
HR objective could be to develop sales skills. The strategy for this is implementing ongoing training of staff in regards to sales technique.
Staff Manager
A manager who provides specialist advice or assistance to functional managers.
If business’s can find ways to motivate employees…
Lead to improved staff morale, greater productivity and greater success in achieving business objectives.
Line Management
It involves managers working in a given position within the formal structure of a business, who have authority over subordinates within their area of authority
Difference between HR, staff and line manager
HR managers do not have authority to make decisions about work to be done in other departments.
As, staff managers they have authority to advise, but not direct other managers (Advisory role)
As line manager they have authority to direct managers/employees in their functional area/department/line of authority.
Motivation
is the force that drives people to exert effort over a period of time.
A human resource manager
coordinates all the activities involved in acquiring, developing, maintaining and terminating employees from an organisation’s human resources.
