Previous topic requires measuring concentration as a function of time. Kinetic measurements are challenging because:

• reactions are on a range of timescales, thus requiring different techniques to measure
• need to measure the concs of individual species within complex mixtures
• want non-invasive techniques which don’t alter concs when taking measurements
• want to automate conc readings
