Coronary artery aneurysm
What is the key feature of Kawasaki disease?
Persistent high-grade fever which lasts for more than 5 days and is characteristically resistant to antipyretics

What are the other features of Kawasaki disease?
- Bilateral conjunctivitis
- bright red, cracked lips
- strawberry tongue
- cervical lymphadenopathy
- red palms of the hands and the soles of the feet which later peel

Echocardiogram- Coronary artery aneurysm
What is the management of Kawasaki disease?
High-dose aspirin Intravenous immunoglobulin (reduce risk of coronary artery aneurysm)
What does high does aspirin reduce the risk of?
Reduces the risk of thrombosis
What do intravenous immunoglobulins reduce the risk of?
Reduce risk of coronary artery aneurysm
Why is aspirin usually contraindicated in children?
Risk of Reye’s syndrome (liver and brain damage)
