It revolves around everyone being their own unique person and how the nurse should understand that no person or experience is the same.
Humanistic Nursing Theory
A person is responsible for his own development through his own will.
Existentialism
A research method that focuses on studying human experience, specifically how humans perceive and communicate their lived experiences.
Phenomenology
The nurse preparing to know the patient. The nurse should recognize that they may have different viewpoints, but it is important to accept new ideas and try to understand them.
First Phase
The nurse knowing the patient intuitively. The two should talk to one another for better understanding and help the nursing process develop.
Second Phase
The nurse knowing the patient scientifically. The nurse understands the information given and tries to recognize any patterns or themes congruent to what she already knows.
Third Phase
The nurse complimentary synthesizing known others. The nurse should see herself as a source of knowledge that continues to grow and develop the nursing community based on her own experiences.
Fourth Phase
The nurse has reflected on all of the information given by the patient and has made a plan inclusive of both parties’ experiences; the nurse and patient has come together as one.
Fifth/Final Phase
