Parent
Adult
Child
behaving, thinking and feelings copied from parents or parental figures; may be controlling or
nurturing
Parent
behaving, thinking and feeling which are direct responses to here and now events around you, using all abilities as grown up
Adult
behaviors, thoughts and feelings are replayed from childhood; responses are shaped by
conditioned memories of emotions experienced during childhood
Child
the fundamental unit of social intercourse or the transfer of information between individuals
Transaction
3 Types of Transaction
Complimentary Transaction
Crossed Transaction
Ulterior Transaction
occur when the sender’s ego state aligns with the receiver’s expected
ego state in a way that matches the sender’s intention
Complimentary Transaction
occur when the sender’s message is directed at a specific ego state, but the
receiver responds from a different one
Crossed Transaction
involve a hidden message sent alongside the clear one. The sender, often unconsciously, communicates from their child or parent ego state to the receiver’s child or parent ego
state, while outwardly appearing to communicate as an adult.
Ulterior Transaction
the fundamental unit of social action or the verbal or nonverbal recognition of another individual
