What is job analysis?
This is obtaining information about what a job entails and putting in into a job description
What does this include?
The duties, roles and responsibilities
Specific job characteristics, e.g. depth of knowledge and pressure points
Specifications, such as education needed, training required, skills advisable
Performance Standards with criteria, such as national occupational standards
Any performance criteria applied, such as targets
Communicates the job requirements to new staff and their managers
It can assist in the setting of salaries and promotion criteria
It provides a basis for negotiations, grievances and disciplinary issues
