Jeppesen Oral- Chapter 2 (Reciprocating Operation, Maintenance and Overhaul) Flashcards
The engine will not idle properly
No combustion in that cylinder
Conduct a compression check to identify the faulty cylinder
To determine that the valves, pistons and rings are sealing properly
The total time on the engine must be continued and the time since major overhaul is entered into the engine log
If the manufacture rebuilds the engine, it is granted a zero-time status and is considered to have no previous operating history
Disconnect the battery, turn off fuel valves, chock the wheels
Areas that are highly stressed: Piston bosses, inside the junction of the bore and the walls , Ring lands
It means that the part is within the manufacture’s limits and can be used in an engine (does not require replacement)
A dial indicator, inside micrometer, Telescopic gauge. (two readings should be taken 90 degrees from each other)
Remove the loose stud and inspect the hole for a size and thread condition. May be necessary to use a Heli-Coil
Manufacture maintenance manual
Inside of the cylinder
Metallic particles show normal or abnormal wear of the engine
