jenny reed videos Flashcards
myopia = short sighted
can’t see far away objects
hyperopia = long sighted
can’ see near objects
a myopic eye is elongated which causes….
the light rays to get focuses on a point in front of the retina causing distance vision to become blurry
luminance is defined at every point but contrast…
has to be defined over some region of the visual field
pupillary light reflex
light shines into the eye
photoreceptors send a signal to the retinal ganglion cell that sending a signal down the optic nerve
this signal gets sent to both sides of the brain stem to the Edinger Westphal nuclei
then onto the ciliary ganglion on the ipsilateral side
the ciliary ganglion innovate the muscles and cause contraction of the pupil
the muscle that does this is called sphincter pupillae
it also causes contraction in the other eye
what does the size of V1 receptive fields depend on
where the receptive field is in the retina
cells that have receptive fields close to fovea tend to small
