Nubuwwah - Belief in messages from Allah through prophets
What are the Five Roots of Usul ad-Din?
Adl, Tawhid, Imamat, Nubuwwah, Mi’ad

Adl - Divine justice, where Shi’a muslims believe Allah is always right and just
Tawhid - Belief that God is one and almighty (from quran)
Imamah - Imams are necessary to protect the religion and guide the people
Nubuwwah - Belief in messages from Allah through prophets
Mi’ad - The day of resurrection where Muslims will be judged by God

Shahadah - Sincerely reciting the declaration of faith
Salat - performing set prayers 5 times a day at specific times (reminds muslim of importance of Allah)
Zakah - Giving a proportion of ones income to help the poor (2.5%)
Sawm - Fasting during the month of Ramadan
Hajj - Pilgrimage to Mecca during 12th month of Islamic Calendar

Where Muslims used purified sand or dust to clean themselves before worship

A relgious fast, where one cannot eat food, or drink, smoke and no sexual activity during daylight hours
What is Zakah?
Where Muslims give 2.5% of their wealth to the poor
What is the Nisab?
the minimum amount a Muslim musthave before being obliged to give Zakat
What is Khums?
A tax paid on a Shi’a’s income, which goes towards the Imam, caliph or Sultan representing the state of Islam.
What is Hajj?
Hajj is a pilgrimage made by a pilgrim to a place of religious significance
What is Id ul Adha?
A festival celebrated by Muslims all around the world commemorating Ibrahim’s sacrifice by sacrificing an animal
What is Id ul Fitr?
A celebration at the end of Ramadan where thanks are given to Allah for giving them will and endurance during fasting
What is Ashura?
In Sunni, Ashura is a minor festival which isn’t obligatory to celebrate, but is where Sunnis reflect on their wrongdoing
In Shi’a, it is the festival of Mourning for the death of Husayn Ibn Ali, who was the Son of Ali and was killed in battle. It is one of the most important celebrations of the year.
