What is social justice
Ensuring that society treats people equally whether they are poor or wealthy
What are human rights?
The basic rights and freedom that all human beings should be entitled
What is equality
very hard to define, similar treatment, outcome and opportunity
“You are all one in Jesus Christ”
What is prejudice
Pre-existing beliefs about someone, BUT IT DOES NOT AFFECT HOW YOU TREAT THEM
What is discrimination?
Pre-existing beliefs about someone which affect how you treat them, eg. Racism and abuse
How are Women treated in some Christian Denominations?
- They are not allowed to have important positions
- They argue men and women are equal but have different roles
How are homosexuals treated in Christian Denominations?
- Homosexuality is punishable in the bible
- Some Christians believe to ‘love your neighbor as yourself’, so being discriminatory is not being loving
What is freedom of religion?
The idea that anyone can believe in anything they want to believe in
What is freedom of religious expression?
The right to worship, preach and practise one’s faith in whatever way they choose
Why should we be responsible to respect others with rights?
- “love your neighbor as you love yourself”
- “Live at peace with everyone”
Intolerance is unacceptable.
