Investigating reaction time required practical Flashcards
1
Q
What are the steps to this experiment?
A
- hold a ruler at 0cm
- let go without warning
- the person being tested should try to catch the ruler as quickly as they can
- record the number that the person caught the ruler at
- repeat several times until a mean can be calculated
- now give the same person caffiene
- after 10 mins, repeat experiment
- make sure the ruler is being dropped from the same distance, and make sure that the person being tested is catching the ruler with the same hand
2
Q
What happens to reaction times when the volunteer is given caffeine?
A
Their reaction time is faster
3
Q
Each time the scientist repeated the test he got similar results. What does this say about the scientists results?
A
The results are repeatable
4
Q
Give two variables that the scientist should have kept the same?
A
Use the same amount of caffeine each time the experiment is carried out and the time after being given caffeine should stay the same
5
Q
what are independent variables?
A
A variable you will change (e.g. concentration)
6
Q
what are dependent variables?
A
The variable you measure (temperature)
