How does social identity theory explain prejudice and discrimination?
A
- This theory suggests that all humans are prejudice because we are like to put ourselves into groups. We feel good knowing there are other people like us. We make ourselves feel even better by insulating groups we don’t belong to and emphasising all that is bad about them.

How does Realistic group theory explain prejudice and discrimination?
A
- This theory suggests that prejudice develops when two groups are in conflict with each other because they are both competing for the same thing.

How does authoritarian personality theory explain prejudice and discrimination?
A
- This theory suggests that people vary in how prejudiced they are against.
- Some people will very hostile against different groups, whilst others will be much more tolerant.
- Prejudice is down to the sort of persoanlity we have; strongly prejudiced people have an authoritarian personality, which has developed through the way they have been brought up.
