What are surface lesions?
superficial portions of mucosa that don’t exceed 2-3 mm in thickness.
What are the characteristics of reactive soft tissue enlargements?
- Regress
- Rapid growth rate
- Fluctuate in size
- Tender or painful at times
What are features of tumor soft tissue enlargement?
-Persistent and progressive
What is a macule?
Flat change in color less than 1 cm.
What is a patch?
Flat change in color greater than 1 cm
WHat is a plaque?
Solid, slightly raised, flat or bumpy lesion.
What is a pseudomembrane?
Removable plaque.
WHat is a papule?
Solid raised lesion less than 1 cm
What is a nodule?
Solid raised lesion greater than 1 cm
What is a tumor?
Solid raised lesion greater than 5 cm
What is a vesicle?
Raised, fluid- filled lesion less than 1 cm
WHat is a bulla?
Raised, fluid-filled lesion greater than 1 cm
What is a pustule?
Raised lesion filled with purulent material.
What is erosion?
Lesion with partial loss of epithelium.
What is an ulcer?
lesion with complete loss of epi.
What are the A, B, C, D, E of describing lesion?
A=anatomical location B: border C= Color, Consistency, configuration D= Diameter, Distrubution E= Elementary lesion type
