Insertion: Radial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the thumb
Action: Flexes the thumb at the CMC and MCP
Flexor Pollicis Brevis
Origin: Flexor retinaculum and tubercle of the trapezium
Insertion: Anterior surface and the radial border of the 1st metacarpal
Action: Opposition of thumb at the CMC joint
Opponens Pollicis
Origin: Flexor retinaculum, trapezium and scaphoid tubercles
Insertion: Radial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of thumb and the dorsal digital expansion
Action: Abducts the thumb at the CMC joint
Abductor Pollicis Brevis
Origin of the oblique head: Anterior bases of 2nd and 3rd metacarpals and the capitate
Transverse head Origin: Distal 2/3 of the anterior surface of the 3rd metacarpal
Insertion: Ulnar (Medial) side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the thumb and the dorsal digital expansion
Actions: Adducts the thumb at the CMC joint
Adductor Pollicis
Origin: flexor retinaculum and hook of hamate
Insertion: Anterior surface and the ulnar border of the fifth metacarpal
Action: Opposes the 5th digit at the CMC joint
Opponens Digiti Minimi
Origin: Pisiform and the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon
Insertion: Medial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the 5th digit and the dorsal digital expansion
Action: Abducts the 5th digit at the MCP joint
Abductor Digiti Minimi Manus
Origin: flexor retinaculum and the hook of hamate
Insertion: medial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the 5th digit
Action: flexes the 5th digit at the MCP joint
